The Navigator is the full size crossover that made Lincoln a name in the car industry since 2005. The actual car was improved on a constant basis in order to keep up with the competition and to be better than the car it was based on, the Expedition. Well, this is going to end because the 2016 Lincoln Navigator is going to still be based on the F150 chassis but with a new aluminum body that will weigh less, be more rigid than before in order to make for a more composed ride.
2016 Lincoln Navigator Price and Release Date
All of these changes won’t be reflected in the price thankfully which will still remain at roughly $55.000 for a base model and as much as $80.000 for a fully equipped one. These prices are in line with its competitors which offer pretty much the same package at the same price. The differences will come in the details and Lincoln isn’t afraid to show them.
Thanks to the new changes, it will be the first full sized SUV from Lincoln which will sell in China. Also thanks to the new body, the total weight of the car will drop down from nearly 7000 pounds to 5700 pounds which is a huge improvement.
Engine wise, the V8 will be removed in the favor of a smaller V6. This might seem a bit odd considering all of its competitors will use a V8 in one form or another but the 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 will be more than enough to face them, at more than 370 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. This should be enough to get the car from 0 to 60 MPH in less than 10 seconds and up to a top speed of 120 MPH. Fuel consumption will also be much better at nearly 22 MPG on average thanks to the twin turbochargers and the smart control system.
The 2016 Lincoln Navigator transmission will most likely remain a 6 speed automatic but it is possible that an eight speed might be available at launch. Just like with the previous car, rear wheel drive will remain standard while four wheel drive will be available as an option.
2016 Lincoln Navigator interior will be quite well equipped being able to compete with the Range Rover or the German crossovers without too much drama. There will be leather, aluminum and wood even on the base model while the higher trimmings will also get ventilated and electric front seats both in the front and rear as well as a panoramic roof for the back seats.
The exterior of the 2016 Lincoln Navigator should be completely different than that of the 2015 model thanks to a new platform. This should be longer, wider and also a bit taller than before which should mean there would be more space inside the cabin as well as in the luggage compartment.
