While the 2015 model of the MKX was just a facelift of the older car, the 2016 Lincoln MKX is going to be a brand new model that will share parts with the MKC, meaning it will have better engines, a new and up to date styling as well as a new price. All of these will be available at the launch of the MKX in the early 2016.
2016 Lincoln MKX Price
2016 Lincoln MKX Price for the new model hasn’t been released just yet but considering all the improvements made to the car and the fact that it will be a new model, it is expected to cost around $42 to $47.000 for a base model and as much as $60,000 or more for a fully equipped one. This means it leaves the older price point in the dust in order to compete with the X5 or the Audi Q7.
There will be all new engines. The old 3.7 liter aspirated V6 will be changed for two turbocharged models. The base will most likely get a 2.3 liter EcoBoost with 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque which is also shared with the MKC. This will be mated to a 6 speed automatic and all wheel drive only. The other available option should be a larger and also more powerful EcoBoost. The 2.7 liter V6 which debuted earlier this year should be good for nearly 370 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, giving the MKX a real chance against all the other premium SUVs in this price range. Just like with the smaller inline 4, the V6 should also come with a 6 speed automatic and all wheel drive but things might change until its release in the early 2016.
A hybrid is a possibility but Lincoln hasn’t said anything official about it yet. The considered drivetrain should include a small 2 liter aspirated inline 4 and an electric motor which should be the same engine in the Fusion. There also might be a newly developed hybrid drivetrain just for this model but we will have to wait a couple of years to find out.
Exterior of 2016 Lincoln MKX
The exterior of the 2016 Lincoln MKX will be completely different than that of the previous generation but quite similar to the MKC, meaning there will be a big front grille, LED headlights and tail lights, 20 inch rims as standard and also a unique design for the exhaust which includes it in the rear bumper.
Its interior on the other hand will be impressive to say the least. There will be leather upholstery even on the base car, an 8 inch screen with satellite navigation, Bluetooth and USB as well as a premium audio system with multiple speakers and surround sound. The only major options will be a panoramic roof and reclining rear seats.
