Ford has unveiled the 2016 Ford Mustang GT350R, which is its most track-ready production yet. The Ford Mustang became popular after development by Ford and Carroll Shelby in 1965, when GT350 Competition model was introduced. This vehicle is lighter, carries more power and features newly-engineered suspension and exhibits certain styling cues distinctive of a race car.
Shelby GT350R Mustang compromises nothing while pursuing maximized capability on the tracks. This was indicated by Group Vice president Raj Nair who handles Global Product Development for Ford. The vehicle is a thoroughbred street vehicle which utilizes ingenuity and technology to deliver remarkable levels of performance.
Design and Interior Features
Ford focused on weight-reduction when undertaking development of the GT350R. The wheels are constructed using carbon fibre, which saves unsprung weight-reduction of approximately 13 pounds for each wheel. Combination of the light and incredibly stiff wheels with these tires is designed to achieve optimum handling and steering capability. Ford has also removed air conditioning, rear seats, stereo system, carpet, trunk floorboard, backup camera as well as emergency tire sealer plus inflator for weight-saving gains.
Engine and Performance
The 5.2-liter V8 engine of Ford Mustang GT350R for 2016 creates superb power-to-weight ratio and possesses flat-plane crankshaft. It is the most powerful production engine that Ford has ever made with natural aspiration capabilities, producing torque of over 400 lb-ft and 500 hp.
As well, a vibrant collection of aerodynamic functions spruce up the GT350R. This includes rear and front underbody belly pans, hood vent, rear diffuser, fender vents, vented wheel wells, side skirts, wheel air curtains and carbon fiber rear wing, a new development.
