The MKX has been quite an old model in Lincoln’s lineup and it is going to be replaced by the 2015 Lincoln MKX which is highly likely to be the last car of this generation. The next one will most likely debut in 2016 as a new model that will use a new platform with new engines and running gear. Until then though we are going to receive a facelift that promises to repair a couple of reliability problems of the interior as well as making the engine less thirsty.
2015 Lincoln MKX Price
Price for the 2015 Lincoln MKX will start at 32.000$ which is not a bad price considering Lincoln’s own smaller crossover is more expensive that it. However, that also comes with pretty much a better chassis all around. The price of the MKX will allow it to compete with much more expensive cars without too much trouble. This is due to the fact that even though it only costs as much, it offers the equipment level of a premium crossover. The release date for the 2015 model has been set at the end of 2014 in order to coincide with the release of other cars from Lincoln.
Engine wise there will be the same 3.7 liter aspirated V6 under the Duratec brand. This engine has been a major selling point of the car thanks to its reliability and good 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Its only drawback was the fuel consumption which became a little better with the new car, at 18 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway for the front wheel drive model. The all wheel drive one will offer nearly 25 MPG on the highway. The only available transmission for this engine is a 6 speed automatic that just as we said before, is available in front wheel drive and all wheel drive form.
Performance won’t be stellar because the car weighs quite a bit but it will be enough for a highway cruise or storming through the canyon.
Its interior will be upmarket to say the least. While there is no leather inside the car as standard there is aluminum or wood. The materials are really good while the equipment level is on par with more expensive cars. The audio system features 10 speakers as standard while there is available an option which offers 21 speakers with a subwoofer.
Exterior of 2015 Lincoln MKX
The exterior of the 2015 Lincoln MKX won’t suffer too many changes to be honest. The only notable difference is the front of the car where a new set of fog lights and daytime driving lights is available as standard. The front and rear bumpers will be mostly identical while the wheels of the car will receive a refresh with the addition of a new option.
