Ford is trying to reintroduce the Lincoln brand on the market and it is planning on doing it with the introduction of a few new models that are set to take the competition by surprise. The 2015 Lincoln MKC is exactly such a car, being a direct competitor to the Q3 or the X3. This crossover has been built on an existing platform but with major improvements to absolutely every category.
2015 Lincoln MKC Release Date and Price
For example it has a new running gear that is only shared with other Lincoln cars, new engines that are fuel efficient as well as powerful enough for pretty much anything and an interior that will blow you away. Lincoln is trying to pull it all of at a price of just over $34,000 for a front wheel driven model and nearly $39,900 for an all wheel drive one. The official release date hasn’t been revealed yet but we expect it to become available for sale at the end of 2014.
Just as we said, its interior will be upmarket to say the least. There will be premium upholstery all around the car, premium equipment such as satellite navigation, automatic climate control or an infotainment system. Options will most likely include different seats for the top end model that are going to be more comfortable than those on the base version, a bigger screen for the satellite navigation as well as more speakers for the audio system in order to create a surround sound audio.
On the 2015 Lincoln MKC exterior it won’t look like anything you know except maybe the front of the car which took minor influences from other current Lincoln cars. The back of the car on the other will be fresh. There will be a new set of tail lights, a new exhaust system as well as a new bumper. The back of the car will be arched in order to give the impression of a sleeker car while the bumper will have a special design in order to have a high departure angle.
Engine wise there will be two options available. Both of these will be Ford’s own EcoBoost in 2 and 2.3 liters of displacement. The smaller engine will be good for 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque which is plenty powerful already while the bigger one that is also found on the Mustang will provide up to 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The only available transmission will be a 6 speed automatic that is available either in front wheel drive or all wheel drive only on the bigger engine.
Thanks to the massive power and the good transmission, the 2015 Lincoln MKC will be capable of a 0 to 60 time of less than 7 seconds and a maximum top speed of around 130 MPH, which will most likely be limited.
