As we all know, the Continental hasn’t been produced for quite some time already. Well, luckily Lincoln thought of resurrecting this model with the introduction of the 2015 Lincoln Continental. This is set to be a new model, on a new platform with new engines that will most likely compete with cars such as the Audi S6 or the BMW 5 Series. This will be done with a quality interior, good looks that are going to be unique and also a very good engine.
Engine and Performance
There aren’t many details on this car at this moment but as far as we know, Ford said that it is going to feature a turbocharged engine unlike the original concept which has a V12. This might be disappointing to some people but considering there will be a lot of fuel consumption problems with a V12, this might just be the right solution.
Just as we said, its engine won’t be something exotic like a V12 or anything similar. In fact it will be an engine which debuted earlier this year on the F150 truck. The 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6 will suffer quite a bit of changes in order to make in the Continental over 400 horsepower and more than 400 lb-ft of torque. This is needed because the car will weigh more than 4500 pounds and it needs to be fast in order to compete with the German saloons. Thanks to this engine the fuel consumption will probably be around 25 MPG on average which would be quite good for such a large car. The performance on the other hand will be adequate with a most probably limited top speed of 130 MPH and an acceleration from 0 to 60 in less than 6.5 seconds.
The 2015 Lincoln Continental interior of the car will be set to impress its passengers. There will be leather, chair like seats that will be very comfortable and also an infotainment system that would blow away those found on the smaller Lincolns. All of these are going to be standard. Options might include reclining rear seats, electrically ventilated seats as well as a mini-bar. There will also most likely be the option for a panoramic roof that all the passengers will be able to operate.
The interior of the 2015 Lincoln Continental won’t be that much different than its interior. It will be made to make people say wow! The concept of the car shown a boxy design with clear LED headlights and tail lights as well as 20 inch wheels. The biggest perk were the suicide doors that will most likely be ditched by Lincoln on the production model.
2015 Lincoln Continental Release Date and Price
The 2015 Lincoln Continental release date is around second quarter next year. The price will be around $50,000. That will depend on the equipment.
