The 2015 Ford Fiesta ST has had a strong presence in the European hatchback market for over a decade, but Ford is now looking to expand into the US market with the 2014 ST model of the Fiesta. The American version of the vehicle is no different from the European one as it still remains a pint sized powerhouse.
2015 Ford Fiesta ST Exterior
The American ST will only come in a 5 door form as opposed to the European ST, a three door vehicle. As for the design, it is quite ambitious and slightly contentious with a roof-mounted spoiler, painted rear diffuser, and some belligerent bumper caps. One difference from the previous model is a somewhat larger grille with meshed honeycomb and some extra air ducts under the bumper. Also offered are some 17-inch fat-spoke alloy wheels. Even the paint jobs are a little bit threatening with names like Ken Block Snot Green, Race Red and Sterling Metallic, still they might be completely appropriate for what is hiding under the hood.
2015 Ford Fiesta ST Interior
Inside the ST tries its best to simulate a interior of a race car, especially with the ambient lighting and optional Recaro seats. However pricey the Recaro seats may be, they are a great deal, as they give you excellent support and keep you firmly planted during high speed drives. The interior also features some exemplary soft touch materials and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Another outstanding and unfortunately also optional feature is the Sony audio system with ten speakers and a subwoofer, guaranteed to deliver an exceptional sound quality.
2015 Ford Fiesta ST Engine and powertrain
The new Fiesta will feature a cast-aluminum, direct-injected 1.6-liter turbo, which is a quite large engine for a vehicle its size. The powerhouse engine is capable of producing 197 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 214 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. In the “overboost” mode the turbo reaches its peak, while jamming in a maximum of 21 psi. As for the transmission, only one option will be made available, a manual gearbox with six speeds and one clutch pedal. The estimated EPE is still unknown and Ford is yet to release it, but we can predict the combined figure will be somewhere around the low 30s.
2015 Ford Fiesta ST Price and Release Date
The 2015 Ford Fiesta ST will be available in US showrooms in August and the prices are expected to start at $21,700, however, some associated fees can sore the price up to $23,625.
