The 2015 Ford F-150 diesel appeared for the first time in public some weeks back at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. It is set to be available to the market by the start of the autumn of the same year.
This base variant will hit the market in four trim levels: XLT, Platinum, Lariat and King Ranch. It is expected that the other five trims will hopefully be available later.
Design of 2015 Ford F-150
The 2015 Ford F-150 diesel will be available in 3 different cab styles (Super, Super-Crew and the Regular) whose cargo boxes measure; 78.9 inches, or 97.6 inches and 67.1 inches long. This base model together with all the others, is to be made of lightweight materials –majorly aluminum. Steel will still be used and its construction is set to change to the unibody architecture. With this, its weight will decrease by 700lb, which will have a positive impact on its fuel economy, acceleration, towing, and also the braking.
The exterior design will experience a few modifications compared to its forerunner. These modifications include; new shaped headlights and a bigger chrome grille. The interior of the new 2015 F-150 diesel has adopted its platform from Atlas as both its exterior and interior parts are notable familiar with Atlas concept. Its interior shall have a Center-stacked design with an 8-inch touchscreen display. It’ll also have central tunnel, two cup holders on the right, and the gear selector on the left which also are similarities. Buttons and Knobs are easy to use. Ford vehicles use MyFord Touch infotainment interface, so it’s expected that the 2015 Ford F-150 Diesel will adopt the same too.
The 2015 Ford F-150 Diesel engine specifications come in four different trims. The new one is the 2.7l EcoBoost turbocharged V-6 diesel engine that is much awaited and is expected to be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and will be capable of producing up to 320 HP and 375lb-ft of torque. The other models shall be the; 3.5l V6 giving 300 HP and 280lb-ft of torque, the 3.5l EcoBoost turbocharged V6 engine and lastly the 5.0l V8 producing 360 HP. This brand-new 2.7l diesel truck is expected to yield up to 30 miles per gallon on average.
2015 Ford F-150 Diesel Release date and Price of the F-150
Having already been released in March at the Detroit motor show, this model is set to start mass production and is expected to start selling by the start of the autumn of 2014. Its price is set to start at $28,000 to about $30,000 for its base model and prices are set to increase with the other trims.
